The love story of Niulang and Zhinü has been passed down with a long history as the head of four Chinese legends of love. It has been rooted in the ancient Chinese myths and legends. This story illustrates Fairy Zhinü was tired of boring life in the Heavenly Palace and sneaked down to the Mortal World for playing. She married kind and honest Niulang in the Mortal World without her mother’s permission with the help of Old Ox (Taurus), and lived a mortal life of men ploughing in the fields and women weaving at home. Queen Mother was furious about this, dispatched the heavenly soldiers to take Zhinü back to the Heavenly Palace, and separated them by force. Eventually they touched the Magpies with their faithful love after going through difficulties and obstacles. On the seventh day of the seventh lunar month in the Chinese calendar, numerous Magpies were flying together and building a Magpies Bridge across the Milky Way with their wings so that Niulang and Zhinü could reunite on the Milky Way. This legend has been widely spread until now. It is continuously endowed with new cultural connotations and emotional values, highlighting its profound historical influences and unique cultural charms.
